Lowell Allen Berlin

Lowell Allen Berlin, 91, passed away at home with family by his side on April 27, 2023. He was born on April 8, 1932, the seventh of nine children to his parents, Louis A. and Jewel (Pear) Berlin. He was one of the first children born at the Colusa Memorial Hospital. He lived in Colusa County most of his life and graduated from Colusa High School in 1951.
Soon after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Lucile (Williams) Berlin, on September 29, 1951. They had 2 children, Kathy, born 9/25/1952, and Gus, born 3/18/1955. Lowell moved his family to Fremont, CA, where they lived for 11 years, and he worked for Likit Windows, traveling over 885,000 miles delivering windows. He, then, moved back to Colusa County and worked for the County Road Department until he retired in 1992. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an amazing husband and father.

Lowell is survived by his son, Gus (Genny) Berlin, of Colusa; and his sister, Darlene (Raegene) Cation, of Williams. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Scott (Brandi) Huffmaster of Phoenix, AZ; Ann (Aaron) Lewis of Tigard, OR; Brandon Berlin of Colusa; and Stephanie Sullivan of Omaha, NE; and his great-grandchildren Brogunn, Madoxx, Piersonn and Ireland Huffmaster; Aeden and Katie Sullivan; Harper Berlin; and Nolan and Nora Lewis.

Lowell is predeceded in death by his wife, Lucile Berlin, who passed away just 28 days prior to his death, after 71 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy (Gavin) Huffmaster, who passed away in January 2022. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Tom Berlin, Jim Berlin, Fred Berlin, Lavonia Day, Mary Garofalo, Virginia Nelson, and Louis E. Berlin, who was killed in action during World War II.

Graveside services will be held on May 8, 2023, at 11 AM at the Colusa Cemetery, Pastor Garcia officiating. A reception will be held at the Charity Baptist Church, 2150 Wescott Road, Colusa, immediately following the services. ■
