Lynette Marie Clark

Lynette Marie Clark, fondly known as “Lyn”, 85 years old of Colusa, California, suddenly went to be with her lord on Jan. 28, 2023. She was born to Leslie and Marylynn Darr in Kelso, WA on Oct. 21, 1937.

Married to her husband of 40 years, Robert D. Clark, they shared a love for golf and tennis and loved to travel all over the world together. Bob would say Lyn never met a stranger and knew all the cruise ship passengers by the end of the first day, and she kept in contact with many over the course of years.

In the early 1960s, Lyn moved to the Los Angeles area where she worked for the Pinkerton Detective Agency and did some modeling for the Ford Motor Company and others. It was here that she met UCLA student and future husband Bob Clark.

Family was everything to Lyn, she took great pride in her two children and her grandchildren. She could always be found at a sporting event, cheering on the grandkids.
She loved working in her garden and playing bridge. She earned the title of “Life Master” after decades of tournament competition. She played words with friends on a daily basis and kept in touch with a large group of folks she had met over the years by playing Farmville. Lyn eagerly looked forward to her monthly lunches with her besties and adored her dog and devoted companion, Bo Bo.

She was previously a member of the Colusa Tennis club, the Colusa Golf Course and Peach Tree Golf and Country Club. Lyn was also an accomplished pianist and artist. Lyn loved her church, learning about the lord and the wonderful fellowship of the congregation.

Lynette was an integral member of The Children’s Home Society. Her fundraising system and organizational methods were studied and adopted throughout the chapters on the West Coast.

Lyn graduated from Kelso High School. She played volleyball and basketball and was always telling stories of how basketball was frustrating because they only allowed women to play half-court.

Following in her father’s footsteps, she graduated from Washington State University with an AA degree in Art. She was a sister of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and part of the women’s Bowling Team, where she earned high scorer for both men and women.

Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Marylynn Darr, her twin brother Larry and brother Gerry. She is survived by her daughter Leslie Pingrey, son Brad and her beloved grandchildren Matthew, Justin, Emily and Kamare.

Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, Feb.18, 2023, at the Presbyterian Church, 326 Jay Street, in Colusa. A will reception to follow next door. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Colusa RedHawk Athletic Foundation, P.O. Box 1027, Colusa, CA 95932 or the Presbyterian Church. ■
