James Allen “Jim” Beduhn

Local resident James Allen (Jim) Beduhn, 80, of Colusa, CA succumbed to his fight with cancer on December 16, 2022. Jim was born in Minnesota on May 18, 194,2 to Marie and Wilbur (“Bitts”) Beduhn.  The young family moved to Colusa soon after, where Jim spent most of his life.  Although he pursued his education in various ways (including a stint in the National Guard), Jim identified most profoundly as an artist at the Art Institute of San Francisco.  While he returned to Colusa to raise a family, and spent much of his life  refurbishing furniture, he remained a unique character and lifelong artist.  Much of his life centered around the social and functional aspects of his wood shop.  Many who visited would know what an avid reader and music fan he also was, besides the more pragmatic and specialized knowledge he had of wood.  Jim also played golf, was a 49’ers fan, and possessed a wry sense of humor.  His appreciation of nature was a constant in his life, from hunting as a boy to feeding the birds and rabbits in his yard just weeks ago.

Jim is preceded in death by wife Kathe, son Otto, sister Cindy Cerney, and his parents.  He is survived by son Andrew and sister Gail Beduhn, along with several nieces and a nephew.

A memorial service will be held at McNary-Moore Chapel, 107 5th St., in Colusa, on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2022 at 3 PM.
