Gloria was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 29, 1940, to Oscar Joseph Leeb and Delia May Leeb. The Leeb’s relocated from Indiana to California. Gloria grew up in Anaheim and graduated from High School in Beaumont, California in 1958.
Gloria married Richard William Arnett on August 24, 1958. Gloria helped with the family farm. Her favorite job was fostering the abandoned calves.
In 1968 Gloria and Richard relocated to Maxwell, Ca. where they raised their three sons; James, Stephen, and Roger.
Gloria worked with the Maxwell Unified School District from 1971 to 2010 as a yard duty teacher (her whistle served as a corrective guide to wayward school children), teachers aid, school librarian and eventually a paraprofessional educator. Gloria was able to share her passion for reading by teaching reading to the students.
Her artistic flair could be seen on backgrounds for school Christmas pageants, book fairs, and occasionally at Homecoming. Gloria served as Grand Marshall for the 2016 Maxwell Rodeo Parade.
At home Gloria enjoyed special occasion cooking, quilting and special sewing projects, family holiday get together‘s, reciting family history, and keeping family members in touch with each other.
Gloria took an active part in the Maxwell United Methodist Church as a member of the choir, Sunday school teacher and lay leader, bulletin preparation, and a member of the Methodist women’s group; she believed and lived John 3:16.
No one was a stranger to Gloria; she never met a person she couldn’t win over with her kind personality.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father Oscar and her mother Delia Leeb and daughter Carolyn. Gloria is survived by her sister Jobyna Johnson, her brother John Leeb, her husband Richard Arnett, and her sons James, Stephen, and Roger Arnett. Gloria has 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Services to remember Gloria and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 9:00 AM at Maxwell Methodist Church, 169 Olive Street, Maxwell, Calif.
Pot luck luncheon immediately following at American Legion Hall, 250 Oak Street, Maxwell California. ■
