Peter (Pete) William Jansen [71], of Milford, CA, passed away on April 24, 2025, surrounded
by his family.
Pete was born on January 25, 1954, to Bryan and Evelyn. After growing up in Grimes, CA and living a very rambunctious life digging tunnels under the town, partaking in Scouts, taming wild animals, playing sports and riding motorcycles, Pete graduated from Pierce High School in 1972 with his soon-to-be bride, Sandy Grimmer. Pete continued his education at Yuba College where he played basketball and later coached the women’s team. He finished his collegiate career studying Crop Science at Chico State, along with getting married (1974), farming and buying their first family home
in Grimes, CA.
Pete went on to farm with his family in Colusa County, had two children (Dawn and Will), built their dream home and partook in a multitude of hobbies including scuba diving, hunting, fishing, and being active in the Arbuckle Community Church. Working with his son and friends to rebuild motorcycles and jeeps, coaching basketball for his daughter and many years of junior high athletes. Watching his scouts earn their Eagle Badge, and his Sunday School kids grow a relationship with God are only a few of the ways Pete had a positive and lasting effect on the
Youth of Arbuckle.
Pete and Sandy later moved to Milford, CA with their adopted son Kevin and enjoyed their life living at the base of the Diamond Mountain Range. Pete worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, while continuing his love of working with Wildland Fire for decades. Along with endless horseback rides, fishing and hunting in their backyard playground, Pete was also active in the Lassen County Sheriff’s Posse (helping to organize the annual ride to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital). He also found and spent countless hours and days with the Honey Lake Dog Club (where he and his beloved dog, “B”, won countless events), the Milford Fire Department (winning Fire Fighter of the Year) and the Standish Bible Church, where he continued his devotion to God and setting the example for how to be a good Christian husband, father and friend.
Pete’s life seemed to be complete whenever he was around any of his 5 grandkids. Whether it be teaching them how to fish, shoot, drive, weld, kayak, set up camp, or simply supporting them in their passion with animals, sports and life, Poppy was always their biggest supporter and fan.
Pete is preceded in death by his father, Bryan Jansen; his brothers Loran (Nibs) Jansen and Burtis Jansen and sister Linda Jansen.
Pete is survived by his wife, Sandy (Grimmer) Jansen; daughter Dawn (Kevin) Thies; sons Will (Allison) Jansen and Kevin Jansen as well as grandkids Ian and Paige Thies and Addyson, Ashley and Luke Jansen. He is also survived by his mother, Evelyn (Charter) Jansen, sister Marie Willoh and brother Bill Jansen.
A celebration of life will be held at the Grimes (Grand Island) Cemetery on Saturday, May 31 at 10:00am. The repast will take place immediately following at the Grimes Community Church Social Hall (350 Main St, Grimes, CA).
Memorial donations may be made to the church of your choice in his name.
