Louise Marie Mumma passed away peacefully December 22, 2024 at the age of 100. She was born to Jacob and Marie Fruchtenicht on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1924.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Donald S. Mumma; her parents; and siblings Martha Miller, Helen Cain and Herbert Fruchtenicht. Louise is survived by her four children Janet (Ray) Castaneda, Jim Mumma, Ken Mumma, Sally (Bill) Chandler; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Louise grew up in Grimes, CA and was a lifelong resident of Colusa County. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, woodworking, socializing and family gatherings. In addition to the many school and sports activities, she and Don were there for every graduation and big celebration of their family. She planned a camping trip for her children and grandchildren that evolved into an annual Tahoe reunion for the extended Mumma family continuing for many years. Louise’s deep love for her family and friends was felt by everyone who knew her. She led by example and always kept her wit and sense of humor.
Louise was a teacher’s aide, bookkeeper and for seventeen years a rural route carrier. She volunteered as a Cub Scout leader, 4-H leader, Class Grandma at Our Lady of Lourdes School, and Catechism teacher at the Arbuckle Holy Cross Catholic Church where she was a member.
Louise’s family would like to thank her loving and supportive caregivers during the past ten years.
Graveside Service will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, January 10, 2025, at College City Cemetery, 689 College City Road, College City, CA. Reception to follow at the Arbuckle Golf Club, 5918 Hillgate Road, Arbuckle, CA.
