On June 21, 2022, Ira McAllister JR. with family by his side, entered into his eternal rest.
To family and friends he was known as JR. He was born in Pryor Oklahoma to parents Ira Oscar Mcallister and Jewel Mcallister.
Being the middle child of six sisters and one younger brother, along with the tough times of 1930’s Oklahoma, he had to grow up fast.
He left his schooling behind after the 6th grade to start a life of hard work. He took it upon himself to erect a strong work ethic to help provide for the family.
As Mark Twain once said, “I never let my schooling interfere with my education.”
He never had a normal childhood of fun and games like most kids do; that is why he enjoyed and dearly loved his children and grandchildren.
In 1965, Dad started his long career as a foreman and mechanic on the Zwald Ranch in Afton. Here he worked hard, made lifelong friends, and started a family. In 1983 he moved his family to College City where him and his wife Patricia raised four kids.
He was always willing to help anyone he met.
JR continued his work as a farm mechanic until it was physically impossible to do so.
He could never get used to the retirement, he loved being outside and fixing things.
JR is proceeded in death by his parents, five sisters, and a son.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Elizabeth, son Ira, son Tony, son Chris (Teresa), daughter Heather (Kevin), his brother John and his sister Barbara as well as 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
