Troy Leon Vance, of Arbuckle California, passed away peacefully in his home on February 14, 2022 surrounded by his family. Troy was born on May 12, 1939 to R.M. and Luvenia Vance in Oklahoma. Troy is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alona (Hicks) Vance and their two daughters, Karen Cabral and Teresa (Robert) Bascochea. Troy has 7 grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) May, Danielle Bascochea, Courtney Bascochea, Adrianna Bascochea, Kaitlyn (Jacob) Geyer, Taylor (Christine) Cabral and Carissa (David Lee) Cabral and 8 great grandchildren.
Troy graduated from Napa High School in 1957 and began his career as a welder in the San Francisco Bay Area and was part of the BART construction project. Troy was also a proud member of the National Guard from 1957-1967. After 12 years in Napa, the Vance’s decided to move inland closer to family. Troy and Alona have lived in the Arbuckle area for the past 55 years. One of Troy’s dominant qualities was his work ethic; he worked hard for most of his life in the almond industry. Troy enjoyed farming his own almond orchard as well as working with other local almond farmers.
Outside of work, Troy loved NASCAR, Western Movies and working on antique tractors and pick-ups. Troy enjoyed spending time with his family most of all. He will be greatly missed. ■
