NOTICE OF ELECTION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Statewide General Election will be held in Colusa County on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 in accordance with the provisions of the election laws of the State of California for the purpose of electing governing board members in the following districts:

Arbuckle Park & Recreation District 3 4 year Elected at large.  Qualifications: Registered voter of the district.
Maxwell Park & Recreation District 2 4 year

Arbuckle Public Utility District 2 4 year Elected at large.  Registered voter and resident of the district.
Maxwell Public Utility District 2 4 year

Arbuckle College City Fire Protection District 2 4 year Elected at large.  Qualifications: Registered voter of the district.
Bear Valley–Indian Valley Fire Protection District 2 4 year

Maxwell Fire Protection District 2 4 year
Glenn-Colusa Fire Protection District, Div. 3 1 4 year Elected by division.  Qualifications: Registered voter of the division.

Colusa County Board of Education     Elected by trustee area. Qualifications:  Registered voter of Trustee Area.  Any registered voter is eligible except the county superintendent of schools, any member of their staff, or any employee of a school district within the jurisdiction of the county board of education.

FILING PERIOD:  OPENS MONDAY JULY 18, AND CLOSES AT 5:00P.M. FRIDAY AUGUST 12.

Declarations of Candidacy and filing forms will not be accepted after 5 p.m. on August 12, 2022 unless the incumbent does not file. In the event that the incumbent does not file, by the filing deadline, the filing period is extended 5 days to 5:00p.m. on August 17th for any qualified candidate other than the incumbent. There is no extension if there is no incumbent to be elected.

TO FILE:  The Declaration of Candidacy and other filing forms may be obtained at the Colusa County Clerk-Recorder Registrar/Elections Office beginning on July 18, 2022 and must be filed in that office by the deadline. The Colusa County Clerk-Recorder Registrar/Elections Office is located at 546 Jay Street, Suite 200, Colusa.  Candidates handbooks are available at the County Clerk’s Office during normal business hours. Candidates can download and complete a few of the required forms at www.countyofcolusa.org/elections in advance.  The posted forms do not represent all forms required to complete the filing process. There is no fee to file, however candidates have the option of submitting a candidate statement of qualifications for publication which does require a fee. Although not required, candidates are encouraged to call and make an appointment. For additional information call the County Elections Office at 458-0500.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the polling places for said election will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. All ballots cast in said election will be counted centrally at the Colusa County Elections Office, Clerk-Recorder Registrar of Voters, Hall of Records, 546 Jay Street, Suite 200, Colusa, CA  95932. The counting process is open to the public.

If only one person has been nominated or there are no nominees for the office(s) to be filled or in the case of members elected at large or by trustee areas, there are fewer than the number to be elected, and no petition is signed by 10% or 50 voters (whichever is the smaller number), an appointment will be made. The qualified person nominated shall be seated at the organizational meeting of the board, or, if an insufficient number is nominated, the governing board shall appoint as necessary at a meeting prior to Election Day. Persons so appointed shall be seated at the organizational meeting as if they had been elected.
