JOB DESCRIPTION: The Williams Fire Protection Authority (WFPA) is accepting applications to develop an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter. The WFPA will be hiring to fill one (1) limited term Department of Homeland Security Fiscal Year 2019 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant funded position. This position is funded to last until February 6, 2024. If at the end of the three (3) year SAFER Grant period, the WFPA is not successful in obtaining another grant or is unable to financially support this position, the WFPA will separate the position. 48/144 Shift Work Schedule is required.

COMPENSATION: $15 per hour – $34,560 annually (includes Holiday Pay). This grant position will be compensated at the same pay rate throughout the remainder of the grant as the grant does not allow for pay step increases. However, if California Minimum Wage increases, the hourly rate will increase to the California Minimum Wage. California Minimum Wage will be increasing to $15.50 per hour on January 1, 2023.

BENEFITS: PERS Retirement – PEPRA 2.7% @ 57; $1400 per month for Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or Equivalent; A valid California Drivers License. A Class C with Firefighter Endorsement must be obtained within one year of hire date; Firefighter I or equivalent training; Current EMT I or higher Certification with Sierra-Sacramento Valley EMS or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certification. Must obtain EMT Certification within two years of hire date; Current Health Care Provider CPR Card.
