Colusa’s girl’s tennis team had two strong outings last week when they fell just short of Live Oak, 5-4, in a Sacramento Valley League contest on Oct. 5, before returning to the courts on Oct. 7, and edging Willows 5-4 in another conference match.

Against the Lions, Briana Pinon downed her opponent 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot, while No. 6 Vianey Farias registered a come from behind 5-7, 6-2 12-10 win. No. 7 Joanna Rodriguez also claimed a victory, 8-1.

In doubles play, Pinon and partner Estefania Cervantes emerged with an 8-5 win, while the duo of Savanna Rochette and Olivia Nair outlasted their competition, 8-6.

The RedHawks bounced back last Thursday against the Honkers, as Pinon, Cervantes, Rochette, and Nair all posted straight set singles wins.

On the doubles court, the pair of Rochette and Nair eased past their opponents, 8-1.

Colusa hosted Paradise on Oct. 12, and now looks forward to the SVL Tournament, which commences on Oct. 21.
