Marta Veronica Keith

12/27/1941 - 11/03/2021

Marta Veronica Keith, 79, formerly of Colusa, passed away peacefully at her home in Oroville on Nov. 3, 2021, after a yearlong battle with cancer.  Born Marta Veronika Gabriella on Dec. 27, 1941, to Mihaly Sinko and Terez Franka Sinko in Vac, Hungary, she was adopted by Andrew and Mary Sachudy (Szecsody).  She lived in Budapest Hungary with her adoptive parents then traveled to Millstatt Austria around four years of age.  Living in Austria until the age of nine, she learned to speak German while her parents ran a hotel waiting for their chance to immigrate to America.  Marta arrived in the United States February 1950 through Ellis Island and traveled by train to California.  She attended Encinal school in Live Oak where she learned English.  Later she and her parents moved to Colusa where she attended Catholic school and graduated from Colusa High School in 1959.  

Marta met her husband Dick in Colusa, and they married in 1961 in Reno, Nevada.  She worked for Dr. Buonomo, Dr. Kiesz and Colusa Internal Medical Group as a medical assistant, office secretary and medical biller.  Marta earned a certificate in Hospice Volunteer Training from Yuba College in 1987 and a certificate from the American Guild of Patient Account Management in 1988.  Marta was a member of the Town and Country-ettes of Colusa and was a member of the Colusa Pacific Flyway quilters.  Marta was a wonderful quilter, fabulous cook and dearly loved her friends, family and life in Colusa.  

Marta is preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Richard Wesley Keith, three daughters Stephanie (Brian) Coffman of Colusa, Jennifer (Larry) Cleek of Dayton, Ohio, Wendy Keith of Gridley and granddaughters Haley Leue of Williams, Emily Duck and McKenna Cleek.  Marta is also survived by her older sister Maria and brother Michael in Hungary in addition to her nieces and nephews.    

Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Oroville, California on Dec. 23, 2021, at 10 AM.
