Colusa County was relatively quiet over the long Labor Day holiday weekend, despite a greater than usual presence of law enforcement that netted seven DUI arrests.
The California Highway Patrol said 43 people died in crashes in CHP jurisdiction in the state, down from 46 people last year.
During the maximum enforcement period, which began at 6:01 p.m. Friday and continued through 11:59 p.m. Monday, the California Highway Patrol arrested a total of 978 people statewide for driving under the influence, up from 924 during the same 78-hour enforcement period last year.
The Williams CHP made five DUI arrests during the 2021 holiday in Colusa County. The Colusa Police Department made one DUI arrest, and the Williams Police Department made one DUI arrest.
Abigail Parker, 19, of Colusa, was driving on Old Highway 99, south of Hahn Road, around 6:30 PM on Friday night, when the CHP arrested her on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Adrian Pedraza, 24, of Davis, was driving southbound on Highway 20, west of Harris Street, when the CHP arrested him Friday night around 7:50 PM on suspicion of DUI, driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher, and driving on a suspended license.
Rony Yordany Diaz Perez, 21, of Ohio, was arrested by the CHP around 10:17 PM on State Route 20, just east of Wilson Road, on suspicion of DUI, driving with a blood alcohol greater than .08 and driving on a suspended license.
The CHP arrested Walter Nunez Herrrera, 34, of Sacramento around 11:30 PM on Sunday.
Herrera had been driving westbound on Highway 20, east of Hunter Road, when he was arrested on suspicion of DUI and driving with a blood alcohol greater than .08.
Elizabeth Gonzales, 25, of Natomas, was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of DUI with a blood alcohol level greater than .08 percent.
Gonzales was driving on Highway 20, near O Hair, around 11:30 PM when she was arrested and booked into the Colusa County Jail.
The Colusa Police Department arrested Jose Castroangel, 42, of Yuba City, on suspicion of driving under the influence and with a blood alcohol level greater than .08 around 1:15 AM on Monday.
Castroangel was driving on Will S. Green Road, north of Parker St.
All were booked into the Colusa County Jail.
The Williams Police Department arrested Carlos Corrovalencia, 25, of Yuba City, at the Love’s Travel Center around 11:30 PM on Saturday night.
Castrovalencia was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the Colusa County Jail on an outstanding DUI warrant. ■
